The commendable achievement of obtaining ISO 14001 certification among the first logistics companies in Ticino, the choice of suppliers who share its values of respect for the environment and people, and the use of modern, efficient means of transport are among the cornerstones of Franzosini's ecological transition.
Obtaining the certification was also made possible by the adoption of new innovative transport modes capable of minimising annual CO₂ emissions while also reducing traffic on the roads: unaccompanied intermodal transport and the rolling motorway.
The first involves loading the semi-trailer at departure onto a flatcar of a freight train to the destination railway hub. After being unloaded from the train, the semi-trailer is hitched to a local tractor unit that carries out the last mile of road transport to the delivery point. In this way, the longest leg of the journey is completed by rail, significantly reducing transport emissions while easing road traffic.
