The Story

More than a century of excellence

Luciano Franzosini’s presence is documented in Italy in 1867 as a forwarding house, and over time it has established a reputation in transportation and logistics through constant attention to customer needs. The presence in Chiasso is attested as early as 1912 and developed as a garrison for cross-border operations. In 1925 the subsidiary was formalized in Switzerland as an SA, and in 1929 the Chiasso company was established as an autonomous entity, initiating a phase of international growth that has made Franzosini a benchmark in the industry.

OVER A CENTURY OF EXCELLENCE

Luciano Franzosini’s history is documented in Italy at least since 1867, when the firm operated as a forwarding house. In the following decades, the business developed in the field of transportation and logistics, following the evolution of trade flows and the needs of companies and individuals, with a focus on the organized management of shipments and the care of practices related to the transfer of goods.

A central passage in Swiss history is the presence in Chiasso, attested by period documentation as early as 1912, as an operational branch attached to the Italian office. The border location and customs function made Chiasso a natural point for cross-border services, and in the 1920s the branch was strengthened as a garrison for shipping and transportation operations between Italy and Switzerland. In 1925 the Swiss structure was formalized as a joint-stock company with a name referring to Milan and headquarters in Chiasso, and in 1929 the Chiasso company was born as an autonomous entity, with operational continuity in the Swiss territory and development of international services.

In the 1930s, further evidence of operational solidity emerges; a 1931 commercial document testifies to activities toward Italian clients, while a 1934 correspondence describes an organized network of connections and allied houses, with operational relationships involving multiple Italian cities and foreign interlocutors. This phase consolidates the setting of the Swiss office as a structure dedicated to cross-border shipments and practices related to international handling, at a time when customs management and continuity of flows required specialized skills and direct presence in the territory.

In the post-World War II period, the company continued its path of consolidation, and corporate records show continuity in governance and management, with a structure capable of accompanying changes in the industry. Minutes of a 1958 shareholders’ meeting are among the records that confirm corporate life and the regularity of business decisions during a period of economic transformation and growth in traffic. Over time, the Chiasso office maintains its focus on the international dimension, progressively integrating forwarding activities, transport coordination and border operations management.

Over the years Franzosini has expanded its presence and expertise through group structures and companies, with offices and operations in Switzerland and other European markets, particularly in Italy, the Principality of Monaco and the United Kingdom. This evolution has made it possible to follow supply chains and logistics flows with an integrated approach, strengthening the ability to operate on different routes and with international interlocutors, including through a network of correspondents and specialized partners.

In parallel with geographic growth, the company has expanded its service offering to include, alongside transportation, the organization of shipments and the management of complementary activities, such as Customs clearance, Warehousing, inventory management and document coordination. The goal is to provide solutions consistent with the needs of complex supply chains, with an approach that prioritizes process reliability, procedure compliance, and service continuity in cross-border passages. This path is consistent with the identity of the Swiss office, historically linked to border activities and customs practices, and developed over time as a platform for international logistics coordination.

The company’s growth has been accompanied by attention to training and internal organization, with the development of professional skills dedicated to the different stages of shipping, from planning to operational coordination and document management. Within this framework are ISO 9001 certifications for business and service management and ISO 14001 for environmental policies, reflecting a structured orientation to quality and sustainability. Environmental commitment translates into operational choices and continuous improvement practices along processes, with a focus on efficiency and accountability in logistics activities.

Today, Franzosini is an integral part of Tepoorten Group SA, a holding company that brings together companies active in logistics, transportation, logistics real estate and digitalization, with operational and organizational synergies that strengthen its ability to manage complex projects. Despite its evolution over time, the company maintains an approach centered on operational fairness, process precision and customer focus, aiming to meet the challenges of the industry with continuity and method, enhancing its Swiss history and expertise in freight forwarding and Customs clearance.
