The sources of electricity production can be divided into four main groups: renewable, non-renewable, waste and non-homologable energy carriers. Every year, in compliance with the impositions of the law, the distributor of energy services publishes and sends to each consumer the so-called “Energy Labeling” supplied in its area, a document in which all the details of energy sources are reported.

Normally in Ticino, if the consumer does not opt for a certified ecological product, the so-called “gray energy” is supplied, coming from different production sources, including non-renewable ones (nuclear energy and fossil energy carriers).

On this issue, Franzosini, the first Ticino transport company to obtain ISO 14001 certification for the environment in 2002, in order to make its energy more ecological, has opted for energy products that ensure that a certain amount of energy comes from certified Ticino production plants. In addition, in order to contribute to the increase in the production of green energy in Ticino, with the surcharge paid for these products, Franzosini contributes to covering the costs of certificates of origin and to the implementation of projects aimed at increasing the production of renewable and ecological energy in our Canton.

The guarantee of origin (GoO) is based on Swiss national legislation and certifies the method of production and the order of electricity: the certificates issued indicate the production plant and the source of production of electricity, thus guaranteeing the origin of the electricity from renewable and / or ecological energy carriers. It is a title that labels the electricity supplied in a given area, but at the same time ensures the consumer absolute transparency on the production front (more information on certificates of origin / energy labelling on the www.swissgrid.ch website).

The consumer can freely customize his electricity mix, with different levels of certification, depending on his ecological sensitivity and regardless of the transport and distribution network.

In Ticino, some electricity companies already supply all households with renewable energy from local hydroelectric power plants.
